Anyone who’s spent any time at all on the water in New England knows that you can go from a beautiful, sunny, clear day to not being able to see your hand in front of your face in the time it takes the wind to change.
For this reason, you guys need a compass.
There are about a million sage quotes about compasses on the internet, but these three are my favorites.
First, if you don’t know where you’re going, a compass isn’t going to help you get there. Second, a compass is not only useful showing you where to head, but it can also tell you where you’ve been.
Finally, my personal favorite, describing Jack Sparrow’s compass, from Pirates of the Caribbean – this compass points to your heart’s desire.
I’ve used my compass to sail, to row, to hike and climb, to map and plan, to ride motorcycles and bicycles, and even to swim. I hope this compass I’m giving you will be as useful in finding your heart’s desire.
It’s been a pleasure working with you, and I wish you fair winds and following seas in your journey!
